LAST ASSIGNMENT: Paul Wilson was appointed to the Indianapolis Fire Department on 08/01/1949 and began his career on Truck 15 that day. He first served in the military as a ground crewman, and loaded bombs on B24’s for the United States Air Force during World War II, before becoming a firefighter. He was regularly assigned to Truck 15 on 08/04/1950. Truck 07 was his next transfer, which took place 10 years later on 08/10/1960. Paul was promoted to Lieutenant on 08/19/1966 and assigned to Truck 05 C shift. On 05/24/1967, he transferred over to Engine 20 C shift. Paul stayed there until being promoted to Captain and assigned to Squad 14 A shift on 01/12/1977. Paul made his final move to Squad 02 B shift on 05/27/1978, where he finished out his career until retiring on 01/01/1988. He was one of the first Presidents of the Firefighter’s Credit Union. Paul also owned Accent Advertising and was a Commodore at The Indianapolis Yacht Club as well.
