LAST ASSIGNMENT: Joseph Woolsey was appointed to the Indianapolis Fire Department on 08/07/1968. He first served in The United States Army, then become a correctional officer before applying to become a firefighter. He spent his first day on the job assigned to Engine 02 B shift. Joe’s first regular assignment began on 11/11/1970 on Snorkel 31 B shift. He transferred to Engine 28 B shift on 06/10/1971, before relocating to Engine 31 B shift on 10/02/1972. Joe was promoted to Chauffeur on 01/01/1973 and assigned to Chemical 13 B shift. He made his final move to drive Truck 05 B shift on 06/04/1975, and stayed there until he retired on 08/07/1988. Joe also was a Freemason and a member of the Scottish Rite Cathedral.
