LAST ASSIGNMENT: Andrew Borton was appointed to the Perry Township Fire Department on 08/18/1986. He first was a volunteer for over 10 years before being hired as a full-time firefighter. He also worked as a dispatcher at Marion County Rural Fire. He continued to advance his EMS training and became a paramedic in 1990. Andy was promoted to Lieutenant on 10/21/1991 and was the officer on Squad 662. He was then promoted to Captain on 02/15/1999 and assigned to Engine 661. He was appointed to Battalion Chief of EMS/Special Operations and Assistant Chief also during his career at Perry Township Fire Department. He transferred on 06/13/2007 to Engine 663, which after the consolidation with the Indianapolis Fire Department in July 2009, became Engine 35. Andy retired on 01/09/2016 as a firefighter for the city of Indianapolis off of Engine 35 C shift. He truly enjoyed volunteering his time and was directly involved with the last 20 Indy Honor Flights as well. Andy was currently a Project Assistant in IFD’s Information Technology division as a civilian employee and just recently retired from many years of working for St Francis Hospital as an EMS educator.
