LAST ASSIGNMENT: Frank “Aunt Bee” Morgan was appointed to the Indianapolis Fire Department on 06/16/1976. He served in The United Stated Army as a Medical Corps Specialist before joining the fire department. He first was a volunteer on the Oaklandon Fire Department, before serving as a paid chauffeur with the City of Lawrence Fire Department. Frank then became an IFD firefighter, and spent his first day catching Engine 14 A Shift on 07/30/1976. On 03/17/1979, he began his first regular assignment on Engine 09 A shift. He became the Emergency Response Rescue Assistant on 1/8/1981, before transferring to Truck 05 C shift on 11/18/1981. Frank moved to Rescue 07 C shift on 02/10/1986, then was promoted to Lieutenant on 03/25/1987, where he became the officer of Engine 34 C shift. His next transfer took him to Truck 07 C shift on 11/15/1989. He moved over to Engine 28 C shift on 01/21/1991. On 03/31/1995, Frank went to Medic Squad 31 C shift, and then to Engine 34 A shift 01/29/1996. Engine 34 A shift closed on 10/05/1996 moving Frank to a roving Lieutenant status, until returning to the 34’s to be on Ladder 34 A shift on 05/05/1997. Frank’s final transfer was to Engine 02 C shift on 07/27/1997. Frank was known for his unfiltered size-ups on the fire ground. His favorite departmental uniform involved a set of sweatpants with sweatshirt, and unlaced EMS boots. Frank had resided in Kentucky since retiring from IFD in March of 2003.
