Call for Participation – Sign-Up Invitation
Brothers and Sisters,
As we approach the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, we have an opportunity—and a responsibility—to stand together in remembrance and honor.
We are organizing a memorial parade march to recognize the sacrifice, service, and commitment of those who responded on that day, with special recognition given to the members deployed as part of Indiana Task Force 1 to the World Trade Center.
This is an open event for all firefighters and EMS professionals who wish to participate in honoring our fallen, supporting those who answered the call, and reinforcing the bond of our fire service family.
This march is more than a ceremony—it is a visible commitment that we will never forget the courage, sacrifice, and unity that define our profession. Our goal is to have 343 participants, or more, make the march from the L416 Hall to the Memorial site beside IFD Station 13 at the canal. a March of approximately 1.7 miles.
After the march, the Indianapolis Firefighters Local 416 will host a celebration for all those who attend at
The Dug Out

Today, Local 416 President Shannon Whiteley and Indianapolis Fire Department Health & Safety Chief Doug Evans welcomed our partners from the IU Simon Cancer Center for a behind-the-scenes look at firefighter health, safety, and cancer prevention.
The day began with a visit to Indianapolis Fire Department Headquarters and the Quartermaster Division, where the team demonstrated the department’s advanced gear cleaning, inspection, and maintenance process. These efforts play a critical role in reducing occupational exposures and protecting firefighters throughout their careers.
The group then toured Indianapolis Fire Department Station 7, where they saw firsthand the advancements being made in station design, cleaning practices, and firefighter wellness. Discussions covered health and fitness, nutrition, sleep, cancer prevention, and the everyday practices that help keep our members healthy both on and off the job.
A sincere thank you to the members of Station 7 for welcoming our guests and sharing how these practices are incorporated into daily operations. We also extend our appreciation to the Indianapolis Fire Department Quartermaster Division for taking the time to explain the science and process behind proper PPE care and contamination reduction.
Strong partnerships like this between Local 416, the Indianapolis Fire Department, and the IU Simon Cancer Center are helping move firefighter health and cancer prevention forward. We appreciate our IU partners for spending the day with us and for their continued commitment to protecting those who protect our community.
